Film Breakdown

Logline: Silent bell speaks volumes for those without a voice. Genres: Historical - goes over the history of the liberty bell Political - juxtaposes imagery of old and current political, race, and human rights issues Signifiers of genre: a bit of a montage aesthetic Juxtaposition of black and white vs color Historical audio Themes: Being heard. Acceptance. Tolerance. Shots: Opens with the liberty bell layered over background, with tourists in front and a park ranger to the side. Bell and tourist groups slide into picture from behind background layers, ranger comes in from left. Audio - "Liberty bell starts breaking right away." Audio - "starts cracking" Zoom into bell as we hear and see it start to crack. Audio - "try to fix it" tapes over cracks Audio - "voids the warranty" NO RETURN gets stamped over bell. First sound you hear is the bell start cracking as the screen fades up on sharp layered textures. Liberty rises up from the between layers as audio starts - t he liberty bell starts breaking right away.
